Hawaii Vacation–Part 1–Oahu

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

The first of our four-part series of Hawaii vacations takes us to the island of Oahu, the “Meeting”. In later articles, explore the islands of Maui, Kauai and the Big Island.

Oahu is the third largest island of Hawaii and its further developed. Honolulu is the center of all the islands combined, offering many activities and facilities, along with a feeling of escape and relaxation in a mild climate all year round.

Nearly three-quarters of Hawaii is close to 1. 2 million inhabitants and about 400,000 live on Oahu in Honolulu.

Oahu is a good place to start your vacation in Hawaii. Most flights arrive in Honolulu from the Americas and in other places than any other airport in Hawaii.

It is also the cheapest to visit the island of Hawaii. The only island that is cheap bus service throughout the island, you can experience the island without having to rent a car.

Oahu has mountains rising from the coast to 2,000 feet with fragrant flowers, sparkling waterfalls and tropical forest. average daily temperatures are 70 degrees during the coldest months, February and March, and about 85 degrees during the hottest months, August and September.

Most hotels are located around Oahu Waikiki, a good base for your adventures on the island. Besides the usual shopping malls, bookstores, restaurants, bars, art museums, entertainment and cultural activities of a typical American city, Honolulu, Hawaii is unique offerings.

Hanauma Bay, east of Waikiki is the best diving area in all the islands, while Kailua Bay is the top windsurfing on the island. There are many types of activities. From surfing and diving cruise travel by helicopter or dinner, you can find here.

You can discover the underwater world in a submarine tour. Atlantis Submarine “will take you directly to the life of rich Sea Island, from exotic fish and corals turtles, everything revolves around him as it descends to the ocean.

Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial a monument most visited of the islands. Be sure to include in your itinerary Oahu. The monument’s visitor center is located six miles west of Honolulu.

For more robust, more adventurous travelers, hiking possibilities are open. You can set your own (some very complicated ways, but well traveled by bus interprovincial) or book a tour with a tour company island.

You can literally go see the temples of Hawaii in the 21st century skyscrapers, and then change the “city” to “Country”, just 45 minutes away.

No trip to Oahu would be complete without a visit to the North Coast surfing capital of the world. This part of Oahu remains rural and undeveloped in some areas. The hotel and golf course at Turtle Bay are the only resource in the area.

Haleiwa, the main town on the north coast, is 24 miles north of Honolulu. It’s been a mecca for surfers from around the world since 1960, however, is not a place for novice surfers. This is an easy day trip from Waikiki.

What is adventures in Oahu, either to learn to surf in Wakiki, climbing Cell Diamaond head, or enjoy the warm sand on a beach, your vacation ends too soon to discover all this island has to offer. Maybe next time. . . .
